Many of the memories of Coigach are from the area itself. We are
surrounded by some beautiful wildlife and nature. Within walking
distance of the chalets are some great beaches, paths, hills and
mountains. Within easy cycling and driving distance, you can find
amazing sights and places to visit, and if you are exploring by car,
we are a great base to work your way around the west coast of
Scotland taking in some stunning scenery and villages.
The old road to Lochinver is a great wee drive and you can loop back to Achiltibuie by the main road taking in the coast, the bone caves, Elphin and the Knockan Crag visitor centre (all in the North West Geopark), or go further to Cape Wrath, the most north westerly point of the UK, or if you pop to Ullapool, in the summer 3 sailings a day mean it is possible to visit the Hebrides by ferry and be back in your chalet by night.
Whatever you fancy, you can fill your trip with wonderful memories whilst staying with us at Port Beag!
Coigach offers boat trips to the Summer Isles, kayaking lessons, walks, tracks and climbs, beautiful beaches, sea and loch fishing, bars, and restaurants, and the area is full of wildlife and history as well as many beautiful villages and ports worth exploring while you are staying with us. There are seals and sea birds along the coast, whale, porpoise and dolphin out around the islands and sometimes quite close to shore, and even white tailed sea eagles nesting nearby. Many of our guests return year after year as they soon discover that rather than struggling to find things to do, they struggle finding time to fit everything in!

We often hear rave reviews (and can endorse this personally!) from guests about the local eateries, so enjoy local seafood at Am Fuaran Bar and the Summer Isles Hotel, as well as Leslie’s soups, lunches and fantastic baking at the Achiltibuie Piping School Café. Achiltibuie Garden sell their freshly grown produce (fantastic salad bags), and local shellfish is also available from the local shops or directly from fishermen, if you enjoy cooking yourself. A recent addition to Coigach is Salt Seafood Kitchen that has also gained a huge reputation for serving great locally caught seafood.
Di’s “Wine and Wellies” (01854 622 210) is just along the road from the chalets, where you can buy croft-grown produce or enjoy the complete crofting experience at Di's croft, and help feed livestock, pick freshly grown produce and enjoy a home grown home cooked meal. Bring your own wine and wellies!
